The Abu Dhabi Open, played in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is a new WTA 500 event for the 2021 season. It will be played on a fast outdoor hardcourt in the heat of the middle east and boasts an impressive field of players as the curtain raiser for the 2021 WTA season. The draw will be made up of 64 players in total with 16 seeded players.
The field will include current and former Top 10 players such as Sofia Kenin (Current #4), Garbine Muguruza (Former #1), Karolina Pliskova (Former #1) and Elina Svitolina (Former #3). Alongside them will be some the WTA exciting young players on the verge of breaking through including Elena Rybakina, Cori Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka.

Kenin was announce the Player of the Year in 2020 thanks to her maiden grand slam (Australian Open) and her runner up at Roland Garros. She has proven to be a contender at every event she plays and only weeks away from her title defence in Australia she will need a strong showing.
Aryna SABALENKA (#10)
Sabalenka finished the 2020 season with 2 titles (Ostrava Open & Linz Open) finishing the year in the Top 10 for the first time in her career. She is in very good form and with her big hitting game on the fast courts of Abu Dhabi she could prove tough to beat.
Ons JABEUR (#31)
Jabeur had a break out year in 2020 reaching a career high 31 in the world and making the QF of the Australian Open, R4 of Roland Garros and R3 of the US Open. She is yet to win a title but with strong performances on the big stage she is primed for a break through in 2021.
